Belluschi House Groundbreaking
The groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction of the historic Belluschi House was held on the Marylhurst campus September 11, 2012.
The Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher Award honors an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service to God through exemplary and unselfish devotion to the promotion of educational opportunities for all persons – regardless of ethnic background, gender, creed or circumstance. In the spirit of the foundress of the Sisters of the Holy Names, the award recognizes one who has shown a commitment to the educational ideal of encouraging "the full development of the human person."
Mary Clark was a generous Catholic philanthropist who had a passion for educating the underserved. She was an active member of the Marylhurst University Board of Trustees from 1999 until her passing. Mary was committed to Marylhurst and improving our campus for the benefit of our students. She and her late husband Maurie Clark took a leadership role in the remodel of Clark Commons. We are also grateful to Mary and the Clark Family Foundation for their support of Clark Plaza, which has become a hub of university life.
Mary truly believed in the mission of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, and was devoted to the full development of the individual. She believed that access to education would make the world a better place. Mary understood and enjoyed meeting with our diverse student population. Hearing from them about their life-changing experiences at Marylhurst deeply touched her. Mary created the Mary Clark Endowed Scholarship Fund, which will provide financial assistance now and in the future to our students. She is truly missed and we will forever be grateful for her unselfish devotion to, and support of, Marylhurst University.
