Marylhurst University appoints Dr. Meg Roland Chair of English Literature and Writing and Dr. Perrin Kerns the department's associate faculty.
"I'm thrilled to join Marylhurst along with Dr. Kerns," Roland said. "We each bring expertise that will increase the depth of an already solid program. This is a remarkable opportunity to enrich the department and create a sense of community with students."
Roland specializes in medieval, Renaissance and 19th century American literature. She formerly taught at Lewis and Clark College and was a part-time instructor at Columbia Gorge Community College, Portland State University, Clark College and Marylhurst University. She worked as a free-lance writer and creative non-fiction writer for many years. Roland earned her Ph.D. in English and Textual Studies from the University of Washington and her Masters in English from Portland State University.
Kerns' forte is modern poetry and feminist theory. She was an instructor and assistant dean at Pacific University and taught part time at Portland Community College and Marylhurst University. She earned her Ph.D. and Masters in English Literature from the University of Oregon.
