Founder of Africa Bridge to Speak at Marylhurst University

For Release: April 05, 2011

Africa Bridge Founder Barry Childs will speak at Marylhurst University about how micro banking has assisted vulnerable children and their families in Tanzania. For more than a decade, Africa Bridge has helped set up 28 income-generating farming cooperatives in 16 villages in Southwest Tanzania. During this time, Africa Bridge has also built classrooms and medical clinics, provided agricultural training and improved the lives of more than 3,500 children, their families and their village communities.

Africa Bridge is based in the city of Marylhurst and has partnered the cities of West Linn and Lake Oswego, holding many presentations in this area. Over the years, Africa Bridge has received tremendous support from the communities of Lake Oswego and West Linn. Childs lives in West Linn and travels regularly to Tanzania to maintain a clear understanding about the needs of the communities that Africa Bridge supports.
