Marylhurst alum Jerilyn Felton led a workshop titled Doing Ministry with Dogs in February
2013.
Dr. Felton's workshop presented an overview of the development and implementation
of a safe, effective and repeatable structure for using dogs to facilitate spiritual
and pastoral care interventions. In addition to introducing Marylhurst graduate students
and interested community members to this new form of ministry, the workshop was designed
to stimulate creative thinking to consider other possible ministerial activities that
go beyond traditional spiritual and pastoral care interactions.
Dr. Susan Carter, interim chair of the MA in Interdisciplinary Studies Department, was named vice president of the Pacific Northwest Region of the American Academy of Religion / Society of Biblical Literature in May 2013.
