Faculty Receive Innovation Grants

Marylhurst faculty Stephan Belding, Libby Farr, Laura Hughes, Pamela Kaval, Petra Kern and Maya Story received grants from Marylhurst's Fund for Faculty Teaching Excellence and Innovation. These grants will support innovative work in business, interior design, art, sustainability and music therapy.

The Millennial Generation:
How the 21st century's greatest generation will impact our world today and transform our world tomorrow

Belding will deliver conference presentations around the impact of the millennial generation on the business environment. He will share knowledge gained with faculty and staff through workshops and explore developing a course on organizational change as it relates to generations.

The Belluschi Pavilion at Marylhurst University:
A house with a new home
$4,000

Dr. Farr will produce a film documenting the Belluschi Pavilion project at Marylhurst University. The film will be a teaching tool, screened on-site, in classes and on public television.

Laura Hughes
Department of Art & Interior Design

$3,000

Hughes will create a work of public art to be located in the Hawthorne Room at Marylhurst University. The work will provide the Marylhurst community an opportunity to encounter principles such as phenomenology, site-specificity, and application of 2D and 3D visual elements within conditions of time and movement.

Pamela Kaval
School of Business
Sustainability in Teaching Workshop and Working Group
$3,141

Dr. Kaval will develop a series of workshops / working groups for sustainability educators. Workshop participants, primarily Marylhurst faculty, will take the knowledge gained back to their classrooms.

$3,000

Dr. Kern and Ms. Story will further develop the online magazine imagine, a clinical publication forum featuring high quality multimedia content for practicing music therapists and students working with young children.
