Paul Sutinen, director of art programs, will join local artists, critics and scholars for a discussion on Clement Greenberg's Avant-Garde and Kitsch at the Blackfish Gallery on April 19, 2014.
Abigail Marlatt and Katherine Park, students in Marylhurst's interior design program, received top awards in a statewide student design competition sponsored by the International Interior Design Association and American Society of Interior Designers in May 2013.
Abigail, a fourth-year student, took first place in the large commercial category with her design of Portland Base Camp, a professional training facility for amateur outdoor athletes. This is the third consecutive year a Marylhurst student has won the top prize in the large commercial category.
Katherine, a third-year student, won the residential and people's choice award for her temporary emergency housing project design.
All fourth-year interior design students will present their thesis projects on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at SmithCFI in northeast Portland.
