Bob Burke, faculty member in the Department of Culture & Media, was elected president of the North American Association for Celtic Language Teachers at its annual meeting in May 2013. This year's meeting was held at the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute of The University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada.
Bob's passion for preserving the Irish language is evidenced in the Annual Irish Day event he co-organizes and the Irish language classes he teaches. He recently wrote an article titled Irish as an Endangered Language for the Marylhurst University blog.
The North American Association for Celtic Language Teachers is a non-profit professional organization bringing together teachers, researchers and learners of Celtic languages in Canada and the United States. The association wishes to enable its members to contribute to the greater field of second/foreign language learning through conference participation and publications.
