Bon Appetit and Marylhurst community members prepare and serve one meal each month
at The Father's Heart Street Ministry in
The university's café and catering service provider, Bon Appetit, donates a hot lunch for 60 clients at The Father's Heart one day each month. In addition, Bon Appetit provides the makings for 60 sack lunches.
Volunteers from the Marylhurst community prepare the sack lunches and serve the hot meal on location in Oregon City.
The Father's Heart, located about 10 minutes from Marylhurst, is a non-denominational drop-in warming center for the homeless in Oregon City. It provides a safe, warm place to be, to shower, to sleep, to find clothing, get a meal, use a computer, relax and watch TV for a while, before moving on. Tuesday through Friday, the agency provides breakfast, snacks, a hot meal at 11 a.m., and a sack lunch for clients to take with them when they leave at 3:30 p.m.
Community service is an integral part of the Marylhurst experience. This service program is coordinated by University Ministry and the Office of Mission Integration.
