Jay Ponteri Nominated for OBA Award

English faculty Jay Ponteri was named a finalist for the 2014 Oregon Book Awards for his acclaimed memoir, Wedlocked.

Oregon Book Awards & Fellowships supports, promotes and celebrates Oregon's writers and publishers. In addition to financial support, the program produces the Oregon Book Awards Author Tour, which connects writers and readers throughout the state with readings, classroom visits and workshops.

Winners will be named at the Oregon Book Awards Ceremony at the Gerding Theater at the Armory in Portland on Monday, March 17, 2014.

The nominees for the Sarah Winnemucca Award for Creative Nonfiction are:

Jay Ponteri, Wedlocked
Scott Nadelson, The Next Scott Nadelson
Elena Passarello, Let Me Clear My Throat
Kim Stafford, 100 Tricks Every Boy Can Do
Sandra Stone, The Inmost House

Jay Ponteri is the director of the creative writing program and an associate faculty member in the Department of English.
