Justin Smith to Conduct Regional Choir

Dr. Justin Smith, music faculty, will conduct the OMEA region III high school honor choir in a performance at St. Helens High School on January 31, 2014.

The choir, made up of approximately 200 high school students, represents "Oregon's really talented and serious musical students," Smith said.

The Oregon Music Educator Association's districts are organized to deliver regional services to music educators, students and their communities. The Northwestern Oregon region (region III) represents schools in Washington County west of Hillsboro, Tillamook County, Clatsop County, Columbia County and Yamhill County, excluding Newberg and McMinnville.

Justin Smith is the director of choral activities in the Department of Music. He conducts several Marylhurst choirs and teaches courses in history, aural skills and vocal technique.
