Dr. Laura Beer, music therapy program director, has been appointed to the office of president-elect for the Oregon Association for Music Therapy effective February 2014.
A member of the OAMT's executive council, the president-elect performs duties of the president "in case of resignation, disability, or absence of the president." In addition, the president-elect serves as archivist, "collecting and preserving any information regarding the present or past function of OAMT and music therapy in Oregon."
The Oregon Association for Music Therapy works to advance public awareness of the benefits of music therapy in the state of Oregon.
Laura Beer is the director of the music therapy program at Marylhurst University. She is an established researcher and author in peer-reviewed journals, a published songwriter, and she serves on the editorial board of Music Therapy Perspectives.
