We give thanks for Sister Veronica Ann Baxter (1928-2014), remembered for her innovative leadership of Marylhurst from 1974 to 1984, when the university transitioned to a co-educational college of lifelong learning.
Dr. Jennifer Sasser, director of the gerontology program and human sciences department chair, will be joined by Marylhurst colleagues Natasha Niro and Jo Anne Long, JD, to present at the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education conference in February 2014.
Dr. Sasser will present two talks with Harry R. Moody:
- Great Debates in Gerontology: Current Trends in the Field of Gerontology
- MOOCs and Gerontology Education: A Workshop and Discussion
Marylhurst faculty Natasha Niro, Jo Anne Long and Jennifer Sasser will facilitate a resource exchange:
- Aging Literacy and the Heath Care Professional: Developing a Gerontology Concentration for an MBA in Health Care Management
The AGHE Annual Meeting and Educational Leadership Conference is the premier national forum for discussing ideas and issues in gerontological and geriatrics education. Educators, clinicians, administrators, researchers and students share their experiences, expertise and innovations regarding teaching and learning about aging and older persons.
Dr. Jennifer Sasser directs the gerontology program and heads the human sciences department at Marylhurst University. Natasha Niro and Jo Anne Long are faculty in the Department of Human Sciences. Niro earned an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in gerontology, and Long is nearing completion of the same program.
