Barry Bennett Appointed to Socially Responsible Committee

Barry Bennett, business faculty, was appointed to the City of Portland's Committee on Socially Responsible Investments in February 2014.

Appointed by Mayor Charlie Hales, the members of this temporary advisory committee are charged with making recommendations to the city council about incorporating socially responsible criteria for the city's direct investments.

The committee's five members represent:

- environmental community
- labor community
- business community
- expertise in economics
- expertise in corporate ethics

Bennett was selected for his expertise in corporate ethics. The committee will submit its recommendation to Portland's city council in July 2014.

Barry Bennett is a faculty member in the School of Business. He is an attorney with the Bonneville Power Administration. Prior to that, he served as assistant attorney general and as an administrative law judge for the State of Oregon. He teaches Ethical Leadership and Decision Making at Marylhurst.
