Laura Beer Presents at National Music Conference

Dr. Laura Beer, director of the music therapy program, gave a talk titled Music Therapy: A Healing Art and Clinical Modality at the National Federation of Music Clubs' conference held in Portland, Ore., in June 2014.

The theme of the 2014 convention was Music... The Dance of Life and featured sessions on teaching leadership skills through music lessons, helping students who struggle to access rhythm and the role of music therapy in the community.

The National Federation of Music Clubs is a non-profit philanthropic and educational organization dedicated to music education and promotion of creative and performing arts in America since 1898.

Laura Beer is the director of the music therapy program at Marylhurst University. She is an established researcher and author in peer-reviewed journals, a published songwriter, and she currently serves as president of the Oregon Association for Music Therapy.
