Marylhurst University named 2010 Denton Large Business of the Year by Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce

Our Denton Large Business of the Year goes to a business with over 20 employees, is successful in its own right and whose time, talent and dollars has benefited primarily the Chamber, but can also be reflected in Lake Oswego community involvement.
For those of you newer members and guests the Denton awards are named after the Chamber’s first Executive Director, Dee Denton, who though she retired after 30 years in that position, is still very active as an Ambassador for Lake Oswego, the Lakewood Center for the Arts & our signature summer event the Festival of the Arts.
Our winner has been a successful part of the Lake Oswego community for many, many years and is known throughout the country and undoubtedly throughout the world for their success and commitment to the future of this country’s workforce. Seeing the value of partnerships and outreach to the business community, it has played a major role in the recent successes this Chamber has achieved.
First, they became a partner and sponsor of our Leadership Lake Oswego by providing staff and facilities for the program. They then became a sponsor of our FORGE Education series by again providing staff and facilities. What started out as an outreach by both us and our winner has evolved into a major partnership that will indeed reap benefits for our business community.
This outreach has extended beyond the business community to partnerships with the City and with the arts communities here in Lake Oswego. So, for building on their already strong relationships here in Lake Oswego, for recognizing the importance of giving back to the communities they serve and for their outstanding support of this Chamber’s activities with time, talent and facilities, and for making us feel so welcome on their campus, please help me say thank you by honoring Marylhurst University as our 2010 Denton Large Business of the Year.
