Letter from the President

Marylhurst University welcomes students interested in taking active responsibility for their education. We invite everyone to explore the opportunities we offer for lifelong learning.

Our students demand the best – of themselves and of Marylhurst. They come from all over the world with one thing in common – a desire to learn and grow in an atmosphere of intellectual creativity and community.

Marylhurst opens the door to life changes through diverse undergraduate, graduate and professional certificate programs. Students can customize their degree plans to advance at any pace – via day, evening, weekend and online courses. Marylhurst University is the only accredited institution in the region to offer a master's degree in art therapy, and bachelor's degrees in music therapy and real estate. We also are the only university to offer three professional certificate programs in communication studies: public relations, conflict communication, and training and development.

Seminar-style classes, with a seven-to-one student-to-faculty ratio, facilitate quality interaction and one-to-one attention assuring student success. Many of our students work and have had rich life experiences, so classroom discussions are spirited and meaningful.

Our students pursue their educational journey guided by award-winning scholars and leaders in business, art, science, communications and human studies. Our faculty includes corporate executives, artists and professionals with advanced degrees in their fields. Each brings practical, tested experience to the classroom.

Marylhurst University prepares students for life after graduation by educating them in critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving – skills valuable in any work setting, and the hallmark of attending a private liberal arts university.
