College Credit for Knowledge Gained Outside the Classroom

Marylhurst University's Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program is hosting an information session for individuals who want to learn about earning college credit for life and work-based learning in areas such as corporate and on-the-job training, volunteer work, workshops or seminars, community service, home management, military training, travel study and independent research on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Marylhurst University, B.P John Administration Building, room 200. Pat Boas — Record Record

Pat Boas — Record Record will open at The Art Gym on Sunday, September 13 with a free public reception for the artist from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pat Boas — Record Record features drawings, prints, photographs and video by Portland-based artist Pat Boas. The exhibition continues through October 28.

Volunteers Paint Labyrinth at Marylhurst University

Students and community members recently painted an outdoor labyrinth on the Marylhurst University campus in the parking lot below Clark Commons. The painting of the labyrinth on Saturday, July 18 was a community event by a volunteer crew of Marylhurst students, faculty, staff, alumni and Lake Oswego residents. The labyrinth is free and open to the public, seven days a week during campus open hours. Everyone is invited and encouraged to walk it.

Succeeding During a Recession: Seminar Offered

Oregon Private Colleges Opening Doors Even Wider to Veterans

Congress’s "Post-9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Act" provides for payment of tuition and fees, a housing allowance, and a stipend for books and supplies for eligible veterans who have served on active military duty since September 11, 2001.

Green Means Growth with a New Online MBA in Sustainable Business

Marylhurst University will expand its graduate program this summer and offer a new online MBA in sustainable business to meet a growing need in one of the few industries that is adding, not cutting jobs, thanks in part to the 2009 federal stimulus bill. Concentrations within the new degree program will address the most pertinent sustainability topics: renewable energy, green development and public policy. Inaugural classes in the new program begin June 22, and enrollment is underway.

Third Annual Irish Language Immersion Day

An Irish Language Immersion Day—for fluent speakers and absolute beginners—will introduce the delights of the Irish language during courses and workshops at Marylhurst University on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A $50 fee includes all activities and a box lunch.
