Marylhurst Chorale

Marylhurst Chorale is the university's student choral ensemble, intended primarily for music majors and experienced singers from the university community. The group provides rigorous training for singers, working to develop both secure vocal foundation and outstanding musicianship that will enable them to succeed in their future musical careers.

The Chorale frequently receives invitations to sing in and around the Marylhurst community. In the past, they have performed at Reunion Weekend, the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit, the Marylhurst Symphony's holiday concert, and much more.

In recent years, Marylhurst singers have worked with visiting choral luminaries like Gwyneth Walker and Morten Lauridsen, and, each spring tread the boards in full productions of Gilbert and Sullivan operas, directed by world renowned expert Alistair Donkin from England. Marylhurst choirs have collaborated on concerts with choirs from Portland, Vancouver and Boise in numerous venues including The Grotto's Festival of Lights and Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

The Chorale regularly performs at Marylhurst and in the local community. See events calendar for coming performances.

  • Large ensemble credit for music majors
  • Meets Marylhurst Core outcome: CA (Creating the Arts)
  • Meets LAC outcome: AIB2 (2012-2013 catalog or earlier)

Those of us who attended yesterday's Mass of the Holy Spirit were blessed by the beauty of our University Choir. Personally, I am impressed by the skill of the group which has only been together for five weeks.
