Now accepting students for spring 2015. Classes start March 30.
Marylhurst University is a leader in preparing artists for careers in the art community of the Pacific Northwest. In today's world, artists need the breadth of education provided by a liberal arts university.
Specialize your B.F.A. degree
In the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) program, two-thirds of the required credits are art courses. The concentrations — painting / drawing, photography, sculpture, or a custom-designed contemporary practice concentration — are designed by our faculty, all professional artists, to match contemporary professional practice.
In this B.F.A. program, you will learn to:
- Make art — and articulate why you make art
- Discuss the context of history and thought that informs today's art
- Present yourself professionally to art dealers, art critics, museum curators and others in the art world
- Manage an art business
- Develop a coherent body of artworks (seniors participate in the BFA Thesis Exhibition in The Art Gym)
