STUDIO SPINE

There are 12 sequential studios totaling 48 credits.

Year One: Foundation

In your first year, you will acquire fundamental knowledge of design principles and elements, design vocabulary, drawing skills, and begin to think like a designer. You will begin to experience space and form.

Studio 3: Place, Context and Conceptual Thinking

Year Two: Skill and Knowledge Building

You will acquire a deeper understanding of design thinking through sustainability, human context and design process. You'll build knowledge of regulatory codes, practices, ethics, materials and digital tools.

Studio 6: Materiality & Fabrication

Year Three: Application

You will apply design thinking, design concept principles, building technologies, regulatory codes and practices, materials, lighting, and a full range of communication tools to the creation of developed spaces.

Year Four: Thesis

You will apply knowledge and skills using a rigorous design process in a self-directed design problem that enhances and advances the discipline of design.

COMMUNICATIONS SPINE

There are 12 sequential communication workshops totaling 12 credits. Skills are introduced in the workshops and reinforced in studios. We intentionally begin with a foundation in hand drawing to develop the ability to see the world and internalize form and space.
