Art Therapy Preparatory Track

If you plan to apply to Marylhurst's Master of Arts in Art Therapy Counseling program, you must meet several requirements, including earning a bachelor's degree that includes a minimum 27 credits in art and 18 credits in psychology.

You may meet those admission requirements by incoporating the following classes into your BA in Psychology program:

Studio Art Courses (27 crs. minimum)
Including:
Painting, 9 crs.
Drawing, 9 crs.
Sculpture, 9 crs.

Psychology Courses (18 crs.)
Including:
Personality Theory
Abnormal Psychology
Developmental Psychology
Counseling Theories & Strategies: Level One
plus 6 credits of general psychology

Art Therapy Courses (5 crs.)

Introduction to Art Therapy Workshop
plus four additional 1-credit art therapy workshops

Successful candidacy to a graduate program in art therapy counseling may require additional courses or more advanced preparation. Interested students are encouraged to consult with their adviser as soon as possible.
