About

Michael Barnes has been accompanying singers since his high school days in Seattle, Washington. He has toured nationally for Community Concerts, and toured internationally as the third member of the now infamous BoZoArtZ Duo.

Michael is the award-winning accompanist of the Portland Gay Men's Chorus, Pacific Youth Choir, Bravo Vancouver Chorale, Lewis & Clark College, Portland State University and with the Old Church Society, for whom he has scheduled their Sack Lunch Recitals for 25 years. He is the senior organist of Westminster Presbyterian Church and assists at Temple Beth Israel, Christ Episcopal Parish, Lake Oswego, and 6th Church of Christ Scientist. He has toured Oregon with Portland Opera To Go--school performances. He plays harpsichord and is an amateur harpist.

Michael has played for 10 years in the diction class at Portland State University taught by Rodney Menn.

Dr. Alberto Rafols (University of Washington) and Dr. Edith Kilbuck (Lewis and Clark College). Coached with Dalton Baldwin, Elly Ameling, Rudolf Jansen, Gwendolyn Koldofsky and Jan Meyerowitz. Played for and in master classes with Luciano Pavarotti, Sherrill Milnes, Ellen Faull, Marilyn Horne, Justino Diaz, Richard Zeller, Tito Capobianco, Christopher Mattaliano and Frank Guarrera.
