About

A 19th-century Americanist and textual scholar with expertise in psychoanalytic theory, Chuck Caruso currently engages in academic explorations of the gothic, SF, detective fiction and video games. As a writer of dark fiction, his crime, horror and western noir have been published in a wide variety of print and online venues. Most recently, he's had stories mentioned on NPR's All Things Considered and included in an Otto Penzler anthology. His scholarly monograph, The Poetics of Haunting and the Haunting of Poetics: Author and Reader as Uncanny Doubles in the Work of Edgar Allan Poe, will be published next year.
