Ruth C. Cohen, MSW, LCSW has passion for, and commitment to, working with families helping them understand and navigate the myriad issues experienced when family members grow older.
After working as a mental health therapist and geriatric care manager for over 30 years, Ruth has incredible insight and understanding of the stresses and concerns expressed by those who are growing older, their families, and caregivers. Ruth's special interests include ethical issues in caregiving, end-of-life quality, and communication in families.
She is a sought-after speaker and has been featured in local and national press. Ruth is a former president of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers and former president of the Oregon Gerontological Association.
Ruth received her Master's in Social Work from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, MO and her Bachelor's in Social Work from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
In addition to counseling families, Ruth is on the faculty of Marylhurst University teaching on issues faced by families with aging relatives. She is also actively involved in community service. She regularly volunteers with AARP, as well as with the City of Lake Oswego. Ruth serves on the Board of Directors of Housecall Providers.
