Rev. Brett Stobel is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, Oregon-Idaho Conference and senior pastor at Christ United Methodist Church in Portland. His professional associations include the American Academy of Religion, in which he served on the 2012: Religion, Media & Culture group. His dissertation was titled Spiritual but not Religious: An Examination of the Post-Christendom Church and Postmodern Paradigms of Authority.
Other publications include the General Board of Discipleship: Liturgical resources for Martin Luther King Jr. worship experiences (website publication, 2003 to present); the Discipleship Group Handbook and Group Leader's Guide for the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009); and Devo-Ship: Youth Devotional Worship, a special publication for the Nation Youth Ministries Organization, an international gathering in Nashville (1999).
