A fully customized degree program that fits your career needs

Marylhurst's bachelor's degree program in Interdisciplinary Studies offers a concentration that allows you to design your own degree (working closely with department faculty). You will plan a focused degree of your own definition that creates one-to-three integrated areas of study according to your interests, utilizes transfer credit and takes advantage of credit from prior learning.

Through reflection, research, writing and application, you will:

  • Gain experience in defining a major goal and work systematically to attain it
  • Learn from the rich disciplinary traditions that are directly relevant to your goals
  • Learn techniques for interdisciplinary scholarship, an approach that examines issues from multiple points of view and the relationships between different ways of knowing

Transfer credit accepted

75% of interdisciplinary studies students use transfer credits within their major

An interdisciplinary studies degree is one of the best ways to use your transfer credits. Because your degree is custom-designed, no other degree will use of your transfer credit more effectively.

Our students satisfy approximately one third of their major concentration credits through transfer credits.

Program can be complete ONLINE

Self-directed students across the country meet their education goals, both professional and personal, through our interdisciplinary studies program by completing courses online.

In addition to Marylhurst's online courses, students typically expand their interdisciplinary concentrations within the major by partnering with their local educational institutions (like community colleges).
