Apply for Admission

Prior to applying for admission, Marylhurst recommends that students meet with an admissions advisor. An unofficial degree plan can be created during this visit.

  • A copy of a high school diploma, transcript or verification of general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Measles immunization verification form (on-campus, full-time* students born in 1957 or later).
  • Letter of Intent outlining academic goals.
  • High school students must submit Letter of Recommendation from an academic reference.
  • Transfer students must have a minimum GPA of 2.00.
  • Applicants who have never attended college must schedule an informational interview with an admissions advisor.
* For more information, see the Measles Immunization Form.

Graduate and Select Program Admissions

All graduate programs have special application requirements and deadlines. Bachelor's programs with special requirements include all music degree programs and accelerated online degree programs. International students must meet additional application requirements. These are published in the University catalog and on the department's Web pages. Transfer Students

Transfer students are encouraged to meet with an admissions advisor for an unofficial transcript evaluation. Contact the Office of Admissions to schedule an appointment.

Transfer Coursework

Marylhurst accepts transfer courses from other accredited four-year and two-year colleges and universities. Credits are evaluated in terms of course equivalency and applicability toward a degree programs and Liberal Arts Core requirements. Only courses with grades of C- or above will be transferred.

There is no limitation on the number of credits you can transfer. A minimum of 45 quarter credits must be earned at Marylhurst to earn a Marylhurst University bachelor’s degree.

A maximum of 120 lower division credits can be applied toward a Marylhurst bachelor’s degree.

Associate Degree Transfers

Students who have completed an Associate of Arts-Oregon Transfer degree (AA/OT) or an Associate of Science-Oregon Transfer degree in business (AS/OT-Bus) at an accredited Oregon community college will transfer in at the junior level.

To help maximize acceptance of transfer credits, Marylhurst has established articulation agreements with the following schools:
Chemeketa Community College
Clackamas Community College
Clark College
Heald College
Klamath Falls Community College
Maricopa County Community College
Mt. Hood Community College
Portland Community College
Western Governors University

Vocational, Technical or Occupational Coursework

Many courses designated as vocational/technical or occupational are accepted at Marylhurst and are typically distributed in the elective area. Questions regarding transferability of these courses should be addressed to an admissions advisor.

Credit for Prior Learning

Marylhurst offers the opportunity to accumulate credit toward a bachelor’s degree by drawing on knowledge acquired through life experience.
