This interdisciplinary travel opportunity will offer travelers a broad range of exposure
that includes ancient cultures, masterpiece artwork, historical and contemporary design
and environmental efforts that have influenced us over the centuries. Students may
take this trip for up to 6 LAC credits.
September in Rome

This travel opportunity, focused on literature and art, will offer travelers the change
to read literature that engages with the role of Rome in the imagination of western
civilization and immersion in the living art of Rome — paintings, sculpture and architecture. Students
can enroll in corresponding classes and earn up to 6 credits.
Mission Trip - Jonestown, Mississippi

Join the Sisters of the Holy Names in Jonestown, Mississippi, one of the poorest communities
in the United States, where the Sisters have served for more than 25 years. Assist
their four ministry sites by gardening, house painting, tutoring and visiting with
the elderly. Students may take this trip as a 3 credit course.
Dr. Susan Carter, interim chair of the MA in Interdisciplinary Studies Department, was named vice president of the Pacific Northwest Region of the American Academy of Religion / Society of Biblical Literature in May 2013.
