THE COSMIC FORCE OF FEELING:
Humanity's destiny as the mind and heart of the universe

The greatest discovery in 400 years of science is the time developmental nature of our universe. Over the course of 14 billion years, our cosmos has journeyed through a series of epochal transformations that changed the earliest plasma into the highly differentiated galaxies of today. In this new context of understanding, we begin to realize that human consciousness is not an accident or an addendum but is rather a fundamental development of the cosmic powers themselves.

Cosmologist Brian Thomas Swimme is the Director of the Center for the Story of the Universe and a professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Swimme's latest film project, The Journey of the Universe, was broadcast on PBS television stations nationwide.

Among his published works are The Universe is a Green Dragon (Bear and Company, 1984), The Universe Story (Harper San Francisco, 1992), written with Thomas Berry, and The Hidden Heart of the Cosmos (Orbis, 1996). Swimme is the producer of three other DVD series: Canticle to the Cosmos, The Earth's Imagination, and The Powers of the Universe.
