The Art Therapy Counseling Department at Marylhurst UniversityArt therapy is a rapidly growing counseling discipline. Art therapists integrate the creative process with understanding of counseling theory to facilitate growth and development in clients. The Marylhurst program is designed to prepare art therapists to work as team members in facilities that provide therapeutic/counseling services such as community mental health centers, psychiatric hospitals, therapeutic schools, day programs and residential treatment programs. The masters degree program is approved by the American Art Therapy Association.
