BA in Cultural & Historical Studies

In the Cultural and Historical Studies program at Marylhurst, students explore how social, political, ethical and economic issues of the present are shaped by the past – and how our study of the past is influenced by the present. Cultural Studies is much more than cultural appreciation; it is the interdisciplinary study of popular culture, historical identity, politics, film, ethnicity, gender, technology, media and other consequential issues.

History is integral to Cultural Studies. The rich literary, historical and philosophical traditions of the West are examined through a lens sensitive to the political and ethical complexities of modern life.

The Marylhurst Experience

At Marylhurst, students find flexibility and convenience in a challenging environment.

  • Evening, weekend, daytime and online courses
