Earn Your Second Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy at Marylhurst
If you already have a bachelor’s degree and are interested in becoming a board-certified music therapist, Marylhurst offers a degree equivalency program. As a second-degree student, you need only to complete the course requirements within the music therapy major, a total of 142 credits rather than the 180 credits required for a first degree.
Now accepting students for the fall term. Classes start Sept. 26.
Depending on the type of bachelor degree you hold, the path to complete your Bachelor of Music Therapy will vary by credits and course requirements:
- With an existing Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music Education from a National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)-accredited school, you will find that previous music coursework fulfills most of the Marylhurst music requirements. This leaves only approximately 77 credits to fulfill at Marylhurst.
- If you earned a B.A. in Music or a music degree from a school not accredited by NASM, Marylhurst will evaluate your transcripts to determine what coursework is necessary to fulfill the musical proficiency requirements for professional music programs.
- With an existing bachelor’s degree in psychology, many of the required 28 credits in the human sciences, mathematics and science will have already been satisfied. You will have approximately 120 remaining credits within the music therapy major to fulfill.
