BA in Sociology"The fascination of sociology lies in the fact that its perspective makes us see, in a new light, the very world in which we have lived all our lives." In Marylhurst University's Sociology degree program, students examine the behavior of individuals as members of a group, rather than as individuals acting alone. Learn how social groups form, relate, discriminate, influence, worship, educate, work, adjudicate and endure. Through sociological theory and practice, students explore and understand the structure and dynamics of society. Learning OutcomesIn the Sociology degree program, students: Gain understanding of the interactions between individuals and historical, cultural and social forces; Explore how life experiences are shaped by class, age, gender, religious beliefs and subculture membership; Understand the central theoretical approaches of sociology; and Examine the history and progression of sociological theory and practice.
