NYUFLPThe NYU Foreign Language Proficiency Exam tests three skills listening, reading and writing that are necessary for everyday communicative tasks. In most exams, students are required to answer questions about a listening comprehension passage, to translate into English and into the test language, and to write a short essay in response to a selection of general topics. Marylhurst University is able to administer more than 50 different foreign language exams to Marylhurst degree students. Students may select a 12-point version (up to 18 lower division quarter credits) or a 16-point version (up to 18 lower and 6 upper division quarter credits). For a complete list of test languages and registration information, contact the Center for Experiential Learning and Assessment. FeesFees for NYU Foreign Language tests are $385 for the 18-credit exam and $495 for the 24-credit exam and include both test and administrative costs. Make checks payable to Marylhurst University. Score ReportsNYU Foreign Language Proficiency Exams are sent to New York University for scoring and a statement of credit equivalency is sent to the student as well as to Marylhurst University. Marylhurst will convert the recommended credit to quarter credits and issue a score report to both the student and to Marylhurst's Office of Admissions. Test scores are usually mailed to Marylhurst within 8 to 12 weeks of the test date. Credits for exams successfully completed will be recorded as transfer credit on students' Marylhurst transcripts.
