Prior Learning Workshops Online
While some students complete the Prior Learning Assessment program on campus, others choose to complete the entire program online. Since students do not have to report to class on a specific day or time, it allows flexibility for those whose schedules are unpredictable or restrictive.
Marylhurst University offers both the Learning Assessment Workshop and the PLA Seminar in an online format at least three times a year.
The courses span two terms. The Learning Assessment Workshop runs the first five weeks of a term, and the PLA Seminar begins the first week of the following term. There will be weekly assignments; students may work ahead if they wish.
The remainder of the PLA process, in which students work toward the development, completion and submission of a PLA Portfolio, also may be completed online. Online communications are usually augmented with telephone and/or face-to-face conferences.
