MASTER OF ARTS IN INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES

You could specialize and know a great deal about a single facet of the human experience. You could be a generalist and have a wide field of knowledge. Or you can be a Marylhurst MAIS graduate and benefit from both approaches.

The MAIS curriculum will challenge you to think critically and deeply, enhancing your leadership skills and vision for life beyond graduate school.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
48 quarter credits
Foundation Courses 12 crs.
Introduction to Scholarly Inquiry
Choose three or more of the following:
Community: Theory & Practice
Science, Ethics, & Public Policy
Leadership
Art & Cultural Transformation
Ways of Knowing: Studies in Literature & Spirituality
Enduring Questions
Social Justice
Hermeneutics: Interpretation Theory
Concentration Seminars 18 crs.
Choose one of the following concentrations:
Gerontology
Liberal Arts
Organizational Communication
Spiritual Traditions & Ethics
Electives 9 crs.
Choose from MAIS seminars. A maximum of of 6 credits of electives may be transferred from any other graduate program with approval of department chair.
Research Methods and Thesis 9 crs.
