Professional Activities

Over 20 years of legal and corporate management experience with an emphasis on international infrastructure and energy-related projects. Negotiated transaction and disputes in over 15 countries. Transactions included turnkey petrochemical complexes, power plants and infrastructure projects as well as major acquisitions and divestitures. Contract Values ranged from $200 million to over $1 billion.

PacifiCorp (2001-2007)
Chief legal officer for large investor-owned utility, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, with approximately 1.6 million customers in six states, and its non-regulated energy affiliate active in gas storage, energy trading and wind development.

Kvaerner ASA (1988-2000)
Norwegian conglomerate active in commercial shipbuilding, offshore oil and gal services and the design and installation of operating facilities for global clients in the oil and gas, power, chemical and petrochemical industries. In addition to the position of general counsel for the company’s U.S. operations based in Houston, Texas, held a number of other management positions, including president of U.S. operations.

Fuller Company (1985-1987)
Senior attorney for Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of equipment principally for the mining and cement industries, with seventy percent of the company’s business overseas. In responsible charge of all major domestic as well as international contracts reporting to the company’s general counsel.

Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation (1981-1984)
Attorney for global engineering and construction firm based in Boston, Massachusetts, active in both the power and process industries. Responsible for management of claims and litigation by and against the company. Negotiated contracts for the engineering and construction of major nuclear power plants in the U.S. and both power and chemical process plants internationally.

Busch & Schramm, P.C. (1977-1981)
Clerk, then associate, at Philadelphia law firm concentrating on commercial litigation. Prepared motions and pleadings and assisted senior trial lawyers in discovery and representation of clients at trial.
