In Defense of Beauty

Don’t let another day

pass you by—

of truth

unspoken,

nylons covering

varicose legs or

flowers dead-headed

moments before the guests

arrive.

As if everything is

perfect!

The world is full of liars;

uncover yourself

in the broad dawn light

of you—

Legs are for wrapping

around lovers.

People pay

good money

for dead flowers!
