An Intimacy
by Charles Bassi
Beautiful woman dressed in blue
Not my wife
Highlights like stars in the night
Of her hair
Cheeks flushed with nectarine flush of blood
From the center of her healthy heart
Holds my penis in her hand
Beautiful woman, nurse
Dressed in light blue
Dark hair with highlights like stars
Leans over me
With healthy and solicitous heart
Clean smell of antiseptic soap
Holds my wilted penis
Into which she inserts
Inch by inch by inch
Long thin tube of catheter
As I lie on my back
Drugged out of time
Staring into tiny black holes
Of absent energy, my mortal life
After angioplasty.
