Your Shoulder A Whispering Doug Tanoury: A Cubist's Still Life Melancholy Ode untitled Ash Leaves Prelude To a Tempest

 | Your Shoulder by Laura Jameison
Your shoulder is sturdy, a steel beam,
bearing each burden with true compassion,
proud as a soldier, poised for action.
Sometimes fragile, a bird's wing,
your shoulder stands so tall, so very lean,
a pillar of stone, a heady attraction.
And yet, has shaken with tears of passion,
steady and true, constant and loving.
Even my heavy, and dark shadowed head,
weary of life and seeking warm comfort,
finds solace there from all the things I dread.
A balm to soothe, to heal, the white hot hurt,
where all my fears are softly shed,
with tears which blot your linen shirt.
