Audition and Application Schedule
Auditions are scheduled throughout the year. It is recommended that students apply and audition as early as possible. Applications must be received two weeks prior to audition date.
Music Audition Form
The Audition
In the audition, prospective music majors demonstrate their highest level of musicianship in one or more performance areas (instrument or voice). Auditions last between 15 and 45 minutes. Students with no previous college-level music experience will be given a brief music theory fundamentals assessment.
An accompanist will be provided for singers on regularly scheduled audition dates. Instrumentalists who need accompanists must provide their own.
The audition provides opportunity
- for the prospective student
- to meet Marylhurst faculty
- to demonstrate potential for college music studies
- for the Department of Music
- to assess the student's performance level
(pre-college, first-year, etc)
- to match the student with appropriate faculty for applied studies
- to find appropriate candidates for department scholarships
Transfer and Second-degree Students
Transfer students and students seeking a second bachelor's degree must complete the same admission process.
