Professional Activities

Shakhman has participated in several international music festivals such as Evian Music Festival in France, Jeunesse Musical International Festival in Switzerland and the Athens Music Festival in Greece.

Dr. Shakhman performed with chamber, operatic and symphonic orchestras in both the United States and Europe including the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Charleston, South Carolina Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble du Monde, Denver Opera, Dicapo (New York) Opera, Moscow Virtuosi, Russian State Symphony Orchestra and Westchester Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist he has performed with Colorado Jazz Orchestra, Colorado Early Music Ensemble, Centennial Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kharkov (Ukraine) Philharmonic Orchestra.

During 2003-2004, Dr. Shakhman participated in the First National Tour off-Broadway production of Oklahoma! visiting nearly 30 major U.S. cities. In December 2004, together with the Ensemble Du Monde, he performed as principal clarinetist in the critically acclaimed event in Carnegie Hall featuring internationally renowned soprano Deborah Voight.
