Music Facilities

Marylhurst offers visually and acoustically distinctive performance venues: St. Anne's Chapel for large concerts and Wiegand Hall for recitals and intimate performances. St. Anne's features the stunning 45-stop Fred and Maybelle Clark Macdonald Pipe Organ by master builder George Bozeman. This magnificent instrument is modeled after the great French Romantic organs of the 19th century. The chapel also houses a restored vintage Mason and Hamlin concert grand piano. Two Steinway grand pianos and a 10-rank Kilgen organ grace Wiegand Hall.

Shoen Library at Marylhurst includes rooms for listening to recordings and viewing music videos. The library's outstanding Lois Rarick Cooke Sacred Music Collection contains more than 10,000 volumes of music, books and periodicals. It is one of the most important resource centers for sacred music in the Pacific Northwest. In addition, the library's Whipple Room houses computers, keyboards and software for music composition.

Students also may take advantage of the Music Department's MIDI studio and composer's lab, featuring keyboards, sound sources, mixers, computers and printers for recording, sequencing, composing and ear training.
