Marylhurst alum Ellen Urbani and faculty member Emily Kendal Frey are two Oregon authors featured at the Oregon State Fair’s Authors Day on August 27, 2016.

Emily Kendal Frey is the author of Sorrow Arrow, which won the 2015 Oregon Book Award. She also won the Poetry Society of America’s 2012 Norma Farber First Book Award.

Ellen Urbani is the author of Landfall, a work of historical fiction set in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and the memoir When I Was Elena.

Along with 17 other notable Oregon authors, Emily and Ellen will take the Creative Living Stage at the Oregon State Fair to read from their works. When not on stage, the authors are available for conversation and book signings.

Emily Kendel Frey teaches poetry writing in the English Literature & Writing program at Marylhurst University.

Ellen Urbani earned her master’s degree from Marylhurst University in 1996. She will also appear as the closing keynote speaker at the Willamette Writers Conference on August 14, 2016.
