Oregon Book Awards 2014Jay Ponteri, English literature & writing faculty, won the Sarah Winnemucca Award for Creative Nonfiction for his memoir, Wedlocked, in March 2014.

In his acceptance speech, Jay Ponteri thanked his Marylhurst colleagues Meg Roland, Perrin Kerns and Keri Behre, as well as “my dear, dear Marylhurst students. You teach me humility and generosity; you teach me courage; you teach me how to make beautiful things.”

Oregon Book Awards & Fellowships supports, promotes and celebrates Oregon’s writers and publishers. Other 2014 award winners included Ursula K. LeGuin, Graham Salisbury and Berry Deutsch.

Jay Ponteri is the director of the creative writing program and an associate faculty member in the Department of English. His memoir, Wedlocked, was published by Hawthorne Books in April 2013.
