Applied Theology
Karin Miles is one of nine spiritual directors at the Interfaith Spiritual Center in Southeast Portland. She gives spiritual guidance to individuals, leads retreats and teaches workshops and "mindfulness-based events."
Her Buddhist faith serves as foundation for her company, Mindful Matters, through which she offers seminars, workshops and consultations to sports specialists, such as golfers. She helps her clients "transform difficult mindstates into mindful presence...leading to optimum performance and maximum enjoyment," she explained.
Deeply Rewarding
Her Marylhurst education allowed her to practice her calling "in a deeply rewarding and moving way," she said. The Applied Theology program was "invaluable to my discernment process and served as midwife to the ultimate birth of still, deep confidence — the ground of my ministry.
"I can truthfully say that each intensive weekend throughout the program ended with my proclaiming, 'This weekend was the best ever,'" Karin said.
