About Google ScholarGoogle Scholar is a search feature of the Google search engine that seeks out scholarly books, articles and Web pages from many different nonprofit and commercial sources. There are pros and cons to using Google Scholar. PROSShoen Library librarians recommend that it be used as a supplemental resource in addition to Shoen Library's catalogs and research databases.
CONSGoogle Scholar has some limitations.
Linking from Google Scholar to Shoen Library ResourcesAccess to BooksWhen you are searching in Google Scholar, you will sometimes see the link to Library Search. This link will be available if the item can be found in library catalogs. When you click on this link, the new search interface will present you with the option to search Shoen Library's catalog. Access to ArticlesWhen you are searching in Google Scholar, you will sometimes see the link to Resources@Marylhurst or Full-Text@Marylhurst. These options link to Shoen Library's Article Linker, a service that links to full-text articles if they are available. If the full-text is not found by Article Linker, you have the option of filling out the interlibrary loan form. Department Contact InformationShoen Library Reference Desk | |||||||
