Throughout Marylhurst University, students receive personalized education in small class settings. They gain real-world knowledge, learning from instructors who practice what they teach.
"It has always been an important personal goal that my future career be something that encompasses my life and lifestyle choices and not simply something for my life to become," said Kristen Vineyard. "This is why I embraced an education in Environmental Science."
The curriculum and teaching style of the faculty at Marylhurst engages students, Kristen said, by asking them to participate in their education. "We are encouraged to bring into the classroom our personal experiences, in such a way that sharing then creates the forming of a highly supportive community.
"It is this sense of community that sets Marylhurst apart from other universities," she said.
Marylhurst's Environmental Science program provides students with a solid background in physics and chemistry, life science and earth science and mathematics, while incorporating communication and writing courses. Classes average 13 students and often incorporate in-the-field studies, in which students encounter real environmental problems and work to find solutions.
