Two interior design students, Sadie Kane and Whitney Olson-Davenport, won the International Interior Design Association's Oregon student charrette competition in February 2015.
Marylhurst students will demonstrate college-level skills needed to succeed in their academic, working and civic lives. Writing and math outcomes are built into the Marylhurst Core.
Placement tests aid students in determining the best path to meeting the core requirements.
Writing placement test
Students entering Marylhurst University should take the COMPASS writing placement test prior their first term of enrollment unless they have completed:
- an AAOT degree
- a previous bachelor's degree
- a transfer course equivalent to WR 215 Basic Expository Writing and Critical Thinking with a grade of C- or better
The COMPASS test can be taken in the Advising Center, or scores from another institution taken no more than five calendar years before admission will be accepted.
|COMPASS test score||Class to take|
|69 or less||Developmental writing courses at the community college|
|70 to 78||WR 215 and MC 201|
|79 or higher||WR 221 and MC 201|
Math placement test
Most students will not need to take a math placement test to complete the Marylhurst Core. Students should take the math placement test only if they plan to use MTH 251/SS 251 Basic Statistics to meet the quantitative reasoning requirement and have not completed a transfer course equivalent to MTH 111 Intermediate Algebra.
