Marylhurst Student Policies, Expectations and Rights

As a student at Marylhurst, we want you to be successful. That includes understanding our university policies, your rights as a student and your options if you need help. Review this section carefully and use it as a resource throughout your academic career with Marylhurst.

The Student Handbook is your resource for all things related to your rights and responsibilities as a student, including policies, expectations, and resources.

As a student at Marylhurst University, you are expected to be familiar with and to conform to university academic policies. Things like academic honesty, course completion or dropping a course. The official policies are all found in our University Catalog.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. Learn more about FERPA and why it’s an important law to to know about as a student.

Marylhurst University is dedicated to promoting and fostering a safe environment for all students, staff and faculty. We are responsible to take reasonable steps to eliminate all forms of sexual harassment, including sexual violence, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. We must also work to prevent their recurrence and to address their effects.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or Clery Act is a federal statute requiring all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses.

Privacy and Consumer Information

Two things here: our privacy statement – which deals with what information MU collects through our website; and the student-consumer-information – which (by Federal Law) requires us to publicly share certain kinds of university data, as well as disclose our policies and procedures in a number of different areas.
